INTRODUCTION

International and National election observation has become an important mechanism to help ensure election integrity in countries undergoing a democratic transition or in post-conflict societies. International Human Rights Observer (IHRO) is one of those human rights organizations in the country, working to protect and promote the basic civil, cultural and political rights of the masses through its 5000 volunteer members network in Pakistan and in other parts of the World since 1996.

IHRO executive Committee decided to observe the election 2002 as a registered non-governmental organization in Pakistan and USA . This was also acceptance of the open invitation by the President of the Pakistan General Pervaiz Musharraf to the national and international observers. IHRO believe to protect the political and democratic rights of the people of Pakistan according to the UN declaration for Human Rights. IHRO announced its five members central committee to handle the Election Observation process in the four provinces. The Executive Director and President of International Human Rights Observer were nominated as a Chief Election Observation for Election 2002.
