Media Issues and Human Rights

Journalism in Pakistan operates under a climate of fear and repression, with journalists facing censorship, intimidation, and even violence. Ranked 157th out of 180 countries on the Press Freedom Index, the media landscape in Pakistan is fraught with challenges. The pervasive self-censorship among media outlets stifles critical voices, leaving citizens without access to unbiased information.

The international community and local civil society must advocate for stronger protections for journalists to ensure that freedom of the press is upheld in Pakistan.
