NGO in the special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations
Since 2000, IHRO has been actively working to protect and promote the rights of minorities in Pakistan, in line with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National, Ethnic, Religious, and Linguistic Minorities. The organization has taken concrete actions to support minority communities, such as its intervention in the case of 23 Christian families in Dera Ismail Khan whose homes were demolished. IHRO’s efforts not only helped these families rebuild their homes but also highlighted the broader issue of minority rights violations in Pakistan.
IHRO remains committed to advocating for the rights of all marginalized groups, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and respect. The organization works to overcome obstacles to minority rights, whether they stem from legal, social, or economic factors. By raising awareness and pushing for policy changes, IHRO aims to create an inclusive society where all individuals, regardless of their background, can enjoy their full rights and freedoms.
