IHRO Calls for Immediate Investigation and strict punishment for lawyer accused for rape of his female client in Rawalpindi

The International Human Rights Observer (IHRO) strongly condemns the disturbing incident published by Dialogue Pakistan, where a woman seeking divorce was allegedly raped by her own lawyer, Advocate Iftikhar Hussain, and calls upon authorities to swiftly investigate and bring the perpetrator to justice.

The victim, who had sought legal assistance for her divorce, reported that the lawyer sexually assaulted her under the false promise of marriage. The Civil Lines police have registered a case against the accused, and law enforcement teams are currently working to apprehend him.

According to the complainant, Advocate Hussain not only assaulted her on multiple occasions but also took advantage of her vulnerability, raping her at Kachahri and other locations under the guise of future marriage. This grave violation of trust and human dignity is a serious offense that demands urgent action from the relevant authorities.

The International Human Rights Observer urges the police and judicial system to ensure a thorough investigation and severe punishment for the accused if found guilty. The legal community must uphold justice and accountability, ensuring that vulnerable individuals seeking legal recourse are protected, not exploited.

The IHRO reaffirms its commitment to stand by the victim and demands that the concerned authorities prioritize this case to deliver justice swiftly. We call upon all institutions involved to take concrete steps in ensuring that such heinous crimes are dealt with decisively and that no individual in a position of trust is allowed to exploit the vulnerable.
