International Human Rights Observer condemns heinous Gang-Rape by law enforcement officials in Sargodha

The International Human Rights Observer (IHRO) strongly condemns the appalling incident of sex-ual violence perpetrated by a law enforcement officer and his private guard in Sargodha. According to police reports, a female student was gang-raped by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and his private guard within the jurisdiction of the Kotmomin police station.

This atrocious act occurred under the pretext of discussing the acquittal of the victim’s father, who had been arrested in a drug case. The victim recounted that she was lured to an empty house in Muazzamabad town under false pretenses. The shocking violation was later confirmed through a medico-legal report.

The victim’s father, devastated by the attack, reported that the culprits left his daughter outside their home in a semi-conscious state following the assault.

In response to the incident, the District Police Officer (DPO) formed a two-member investigative committee and suspended the ASI. The committee has been instructed to submit its findings within 24 hours, while raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspects.

The IHRO considers this a grave human rights violation, highlighting the deep betrayal of public trust when those responsible for upholding the law commit such heinous acts. We call for swift justice and stringent action against the perpetrators, urging authorities to ensure accountability and prevent such abuses of power from recurring. The IHRO stands with the victim and her family, demanding immediate legal action and comprehensive support for the survivor’s recovery.

Justice must prevail for this victim, and comprehensive reforms are essential to prevent future violations.
